  HIV/AIDS Policy
 
  • The company will educate its employees and their family members on the issues surrounding prevention, care and counselling.


  • The company will educate its employees on safe blood donation and transfusion.


  • The company will keep the information about the illness of an employee (if she/he has been infected by HIV) confidential. Only the immediate supervisor would be informed to assist in medical situations.


  • The company will allow an HIV positive employee to continue to work in his/her job unless medical conditions interfere with the specific job that he/she is doing. In such case, and only if it is necessary, the employee will be shifted to another position where he/she will be comfortable.


  • If an employee reveals his/her HIV positive status voluntarily, other employees will not be allowed to refuse to work with the HIV positive employee. The company will expect all employees to ensure that the HIV positive person is comfortable.


  • The company will not discriminate against any employee infected with HIV/AIDS with regards the promotions, training and any other privileges.This will be applicable to all employees of the organisation.


  • Sona Koyo Steering System Ltd. is committed to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in the company by providing a safe and healthy work environment for employees.


  • While the company may ask a person who is being offered a job, to undergo general medical tests before the issue of the appointment letter, the test will not cover HIV/AIDS, without an informed consent and pre test counselling of the candidate.


  • Employees will be encouraged to participate in voluntary counselling and testing. However, HIV/AIDS tests will not be a part of any annual or time to time health check ups, without the employee's informed consent and pre-test counselling.
